David MacMillan
Bro. Dave has attended Oak Ridge for 24 years, and has been a deacon for 19 of those years. In his personal testimony, he shares, "I was raised in the Episcopal church growing up. While the experience was good, I did not receive a good foundational and biblical education and missed that in my early adult life. One day, I heard Brother Randy [the pastor of Oak Ridge] preaching on the radio. Not knowing where the church was or even what church, I told God, if that church was close, I would attend it. At the end of the program, Bro. Randy mentioned where the church was located....and I said, 'OK, God, I hear you!' A bit later, I repented, received the Lord, and was baptized. After joining ORB, I became involved with the church, including committees, Trustees, and Deacons. I was also ordained, so that I could serve as the Chaplain for the Fire Department for which I volunteer." Bro. Dave's goal for his deacon ministry is "Love God, Love People, Love to Serve." His most significant memories related to his deacon ministry are his early Deacon meetings with the older deacons, during which he learned a lot about how to serve. Bro. Dave's hobbies and special interests include playing keyboards and the trumpet, researching and working on two book manuscripts, and caretaking/working on two houses with his wife Cindy. We'll be looking for those books, Dave!
