Special Prayer Request - October 2007

Prayer Warriors:
We know that this letter is earlier than our normal monthly Prayer Letter. This letter is to make you aware that we need some serious prayer as we face a time of spiritual oppression and harassment. Where we live there is a certain festival that asks the spirits to give the people who make sacrifices to them power, love, special favor, opportunities, feats of strength, and many other things. It is called "Koh Saang" it is pronounced "Ko Sang". It is a festival where people invite spirits to come into them and take control. It is also known by other names in other parts of Thailand, in the northern part it is known as the vegitarian festival. It comes from Chinese festival honoring the dead. The festival goes from now until the end of the month where it culminates on Halloween. Many people do not think that this is a big deal. Some people think it is a great thing and it is all for fun. Last year, we saw this festival up close and personal. It was anything but harmless fun. We do not see anything fun or amazing about people being able to stick 18-30 inch swords or needles through their faces without any blood or scaring. The people invite the spirits to come in and take control of their lives. We have seen a young man wrap himself in a blanket of firecrackers and light them on fire, the young man just stood there and let the firecrackers go off and he was not hurt at all. He acted as if nothing had happened to him. He was shaking and he had a blank look on his face like he was not even there. We were driving on the highway and we saw a young woman with 2 swords through her cheeks with flags on the end of the swords and the truck was going very fast. She did not even act as if it were anything. 
We are asking that you commit to remember to pray for us through the end of this month that God would turn those people from their serving the spirits of this world to coming to know the Truth. We know that Satan does not want the churches to wake up from their slumber. We are asking that every church or group commit to praying for this time in Thailand. We know that God is already doing a mighty work here and we ask you as prayer warriors to commit to making this a matter of prayer through the end of this month. 
We are seeing many people interested in knowing about the Truth and interested in coming to understand the Truth. We ask that during this time People of Prayer would be praying to God to reveal His Truth and that people would turn from their serving the god of this world to serving the Creator God who created the world and everything in it. 
Remember the festival runs 10 Oct-31 Oct. We ask that you commit to praying for us during these days as we will be dealing with the harassment from the spirits as well as many other things.
Pray that God would open their eyes to the Truth and they would believe in the Truth and the Truth would set them free no longer to be bothered by them.
